From Wat Arun to the Eiffel Tower

· Murals of the Embassy

When speaking about the monument that symbolizes Paris, we think of the Eiffel Tower, the originally temporarily built ironspire created for the Universal Exhibition of 1900. Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, is considered by many to be the symbol of Bangkok. These two monuments are united here, in front of the Trocadéro fountain. The water of the basin reflects the figures of famous sculptures and puts them in relation. Time seems to be suspended here and the artwork will remain as symbols of the two countries for eternity.

On the right side, the Kinnari statues of the Emerald Buddha Temple are known to represent body expression, beauty and achievement. They have also become an award for the best actors at the Bangkok International Film Festival.

On the left side, there are sculptures that present the depth of feeling and the connection between humanity and the sacred.Rodin’s The Thinker shows a man inmeditation. The Smiling Angel in the cathedral of Reims reveals the divine goodness under familiar features. Camille Claudel’s The Implorant bears witness to the suffering that can be caused by passion in love.
